Minutes for January 24, 2008

Mayor Burgess called the meeting to order with the following Council Members present: David Terry and Angela Porter via speaker phone. Also present were City Manager Doug White and City Clerk Susan Roper.

Guests from the Housing Authority Board were Paul Posner, Rogers Callaway and Louvenia Knox. Kevin Stewart from the Housing Authority and an attorney representing the Authority were also present.

Doug White explained the 2005 CDBG Project. He informed the Housing Authority members of the situation with the new sewer line that brings us to the point of the Housing Authority having filed suit against the City. The Attorney for the Housing Authority and the staff member told us that HUD was very had to work through to get easements and that it would be a long process even if both sides supported the request. They went on to say that neither the local Board nor Mr. Braddock could give such permission.

Council Member Porter made a motion, seconded by Vice Mayor Terry to reject all bids received last summer for the CDGB grant. All were in favor.

Council Member Terry made a motion, seconded by Council Member Porter to rebid the project. All were in favor.
