MINUTES

SOCIAL CIRCLE CITY COUNCIL

REGULAR MEETING 

June 16, 2009, 6:30 PM

 

Council Member Porter called the meeting to order with the following Council Members present: Anne Peppers, Angela Porter and David Keener. Also present were City Attorney Joe Reitman, City Manager Doug White and City Clerk Susan Roper. 

 

Mayor Burgess led the pledge of allegiance.

 

The agenda was approved as submitted with the following additions:

 

11A. Sammy Ozburn Resolution

11B. Emergency Management 

 

Council Member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Porter to approve the minutes for May 2009 as submitted. All were in favor.

 

Council member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Keener to approve the Financials for May 2009 as submitted. All were in favor. Attorney Reitman was asked to draft a letter to the county concerning splost money for the siren system as it not only benefits Social Circle but other areas of the county.

 

Council Member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Porter to approve $150 for a full page add in the Football Program for Social Circle Schools. All were in favor.

 

Council Member Keener made a motion, seconded by Council Member Peppers to approve a recommendation from Attorney Reitman for the telephone ordinance as presented. All were in favor.

 

Council Member Keener made a motion, seconded by Council Member Porter to approve a resolution to support the DDA in the purchase of the Bruno Apartments for $605,000. (Council Member Price arrived at 7:53PM). All were in favor.

 

Council Member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Keener to approve a Resolution of support for Judge Sammy Ozburn as Supreme Court Judge Nominee. All were in favor.

 

Council Member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Price to approve the Emergency Management Ordinance as submitted. All were in favor.

 

Council Member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Porter to adjourn to executive session. All were in favor.

 

Council Member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Porter to go into executive session to discuss real estate. All were in favor.

 

Council member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Price to adjourn to regular session. All were in favor.

 

Council Member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Keener to adjourn. All were in favor.
