Minutes for August 17, 2009

City Manager Doug White stated the purpose of the hearing which was to hear public comment on the proposed property tax millage increase. Present for the meeting: Anne Peppers, Council Member, Hal Dally and Jackie Rainwater, Social Circle Development Authority members.

Hal Dally announced the members of the Social Circle Development Authority: Grady Lemonds, Frank Sherill, Bill Thornton, Jackie Rainwater, Bill Clegg, Hall Dally and Betty Ray.

Bob Standridge asked where the council members were and could we legally have a meeting without them?

Hal Dally explained the proposal to raise the mill rate to pay for interest on property for industrial purposes. He stated that the SCDA was meeting with the Walton County Development Authority on August 31, 2009 to see if they would participate with Social Circle in the deal.

After much discussion and input from those in attendance the public hearing closed at 2:15 PM.
