Minutes from January 4, 2006

Mayor Burgess called the meeting to order with the following Council Members present: Anne Peppers, Traysa Price and David Terry. Also present were City Manager Doug White, City Clerk Susan Roper, Public Safety Director Jeff Johnson and Asst. Public Safety Directory Steve Shelton.

There were no guests present.

City Manager Doug White presented a bid from Circle Electric for Generator Lift Station Wiring for $58,332.62 and recommended approval. This was the only bid received.

Council Member Terry made a motion, seconded by Vice Mayor Price to accept the bid of $58,332.62 from Circle Electric for Generator Lift Station Wiring. All were in favor.

Council Member Terry made a motion, seconded by Council Member Price to approve a bill from design engineer (recommended by R. J. Wood) Rae Group Consulting Engineers for $1,600 for Solo Cup Lift Station design. All were in favor.

After much discussion Mayor and Council suggested that the City Manager and Public Safety personnel negotiate a new contract with Walton County giving them 90 days to pay the money owed for fire services for previous years and to sign a new contract.

Council Member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Terry to go into executive session for the purpose of personnel. All were in favor.

Council Member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Terry to go back into regular session. All were in favor.

Council Member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Terry to give City Clerk Susan Roper a raise bringing her gross salary to $43,000 annually. All were in favor.

Council Member Terry made a motion, seconded by Council Member Peppers to approve a bid from Caldwell Tank Company for $ 3,800.00 to paint the water tank logo. All were in favor.

Council Member Peppers made a motion, seconded by Council Member Terry to appoint Crenan Mills and Lynn McClendon to the Tree board. All were in favor.

Council Member Terry reported the condition of the water line in Heritage Park. He said they have repaired it repeatedly in the last year. City Manager Doug White said a new 8” line would cost about $70,000.
